Nowadays, every city is crowded with shopping malls. Shopping mall has become an irresistible part of our life. But, many people would not believe that the concept of shopping mall existed in the era prior to independence. In 1930, a person named Bapusaheb Geete established a shop called as “Deccan Emporium”, which can be called as the first shopping mall of India. In this shop, foreign products were sold. But, gradually, in those days, there came a ban on foreign products. This resulted in the closure of the “Deccan Emporium”. But, in the memories of “Deccan Emporium”, Bapusaheb Gite started a shop called “Bijlee” in the same place i.e. Budhwar Peth, Pune, on 31st July 1956. They are awarded by many reputed organizations and incorporation for their best efforts for selling the electrical goods and also much better after sale service.
