Usually called "high-shear mixers", are the most common form of Dispersing/Homogenising/ Emulsifying mixer. Drying is an essential unit operation in a variety of chemical process industries (CPI) sectors. Food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, plastics, timber, paper and other industries use drying equipment to eliminate moisture during product processing. Most dryers are classified as direct dryers, where hot air (at near atmospheric pressure) is used to supply the heat to evaporate water or other solvents from the product. The tablets to be coated are placed in the pan. The speed of the pan is so adjusted that the tablets tumble in the pan. Hot air is blown in. The syrup is added in portions. After each addition of the syrup, dusting powder is sprinkled. The dusting powder does not allow tablets to stick together. The alternative addition of syrup and powder is repeated until a desired coat is built up. Towards end only warm syrup is added followed by cold syrup and the tablets are dried by blowing in cold air. This helps in obtaining a smooth surface.

A fan draws fresh air and passes the air through a filter and is heated to produce warm air either by electric heaters or by steam. The hot air is passes through the product container having diffuser plates and sieve. Due to the air stream the wet product gets fluidized.
