Many Common Solvents may be hazardous waste when they are spent or can no longer be used. Also many commercial chemicals products are solvent and are considered a hazardous waste if they are unused when discarded. They must be managed and disposed of or recycled properly.  

Spent solvents are described as halogenated and non-halogenated.

Liquor Ammonia solution, also known as ammonia water, ammonium hydroxide, ammoniacal liquor,  aqua ammonia, aqueous ammonia is a solution of ammonia in water. It can be denoted by the symbols NH3(aq). Although the name ammonium hydroxide suggests an alkali with composition [NH4+][OH−], it is actually impossible to isolate samples of NH4OH. The ions NH4+ and OH− do not account for a significant fraction of the total amount of ammonia except in extremely dilute solutions.

Sodium Bromide Solution is a high-boiling colorless, odorless liquid that resembles sodium chloride. It is a widely used source of the bromide ion and has many applications. Sodium Bromide (NaBr) liquid is a single salt used to form clear- brine workover and completion fluids. These fluids are used where formation pressures require densities from 8.4 to 12.8 lb/gal (1,007 to 1,534 kg/m) or where the formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions. NaBr can be mixed with NaCl to obtain densities up to 12.8 lb/gal (1,534 kg/m). NaBr/NaCl systems are more economical than pure NaBr solutions.

Application

Hydrogen Bromide solution is also known as Hydrobromic Acid (HBr) is used as a source of Bromine in industrial syntheses.

Spent HBr solution is generated during manufacturing of various pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and organic chemicals for recovery of liquid Bromine

It is a strong acid in aqueous solution, used for the preparation of catalyst in PTA/PET production, an electrolyte for energy storage, and as a hydrobromination agent in a broad range of organic processes (for Pharma and Agro applications).

Application

 Hydrobromic acid is mainly used for the production of inorganic bromides, especially the bromides of zinc, calcium, and sodium. It is a useful reagent for generating organ bromine compounds. Certain ethers are cleaved with HBr. It also catalyzes alkylation reactions and the extraction of certain ores. Industrially significant organic compounds prepared from hydrobromic acid include allyl bromide, tetrabromobisphenol, and bromoacetic acid. The resulting 1-bromoalkanes are versatile alkylating agents, giving rise to fatty amines and quaternary ammonium salts.
